Chandigarh fashion designer arrested

Leading fashion designer Dimpy Gujral and her daughter Vriti were arrested Saturday for their alleged involvement in an assault on a couple this week.
Police arrested Gujral following a raid on a farmhouse on the outskirts of the city Saturday.
Gujral is an accused along with her two daughters and four others in a case of criminal assault, trespassing and rioting after they attacked the family of a retired high court judge living in their Sector 8 locality Thursday.
The assault took place after the two sides had arguments over the designer’s pet dog easing itself outside the house of the retired judge.
The judge’s son Darshanjit Singh Grewal, a senior telecom official in Mumbai, was admitted to a government hospital Thursday with 12 stitches. His wife was also assaulted.
Police booked Gujral and six others. While Gujral’s servant was arrested after the incident, the others were absconding. Police were looking for four other accused, including Gujral’s second daughter.
The raid, according to police officials, was conducted following a tip-off that Gujral and her daughters were hiding at the farmhouse. The other three accused are male friends of Gujral’s daughters.
Gujral had Friday called up local newspapers saying that she and others were not at fault and the retired judge’s son had kicked her dog and passed lewd remarks against her daughters.
