‘India is getting bigger every season’
October 22, 2006
For: Directing fashion shows at Lakme Fashion Week.
You’ve directed shows at Fashion Weeks in London and New York. How does India match up?
India’s Fashion Week is pretty similar to the ones abroad. It’s all about continuity, showing off a designer’s collection in the best possible manner with a unique feel to it. At the end of the day, it’s a professional presentation of fashion.
Are the logistics the same?
The level and standards are on par with international ones.
Have you seen a change over the years?
Oh yes. India is getting bigger every season. There are more requests, more sponsors and a lot of fresh, new talent that’s breathing life into the industry. The amount of international interest the fashion week has generated is evident in the world of global fashion. India will soon be a big player.
